Assignment #4: Motion

Pam Kuntz, 43, has taught dance classes to people with movement and neurological disorders for the past few years through Bellingham’s YWCA. Every Thursday a group of people meet and work with Kuntz to practice movement. “I get to spend this one hour with people who are showing up to life,” Kuntz said. She encourages her students to use their body to express emotion. “In this dance class students learn combinations that develop their understanding and ability to explore movement using the elements of dance,” Kuntz said.

Pam Kuntz, 43, dances in front while her students stand behind following her lead. Kuntz works with people with movement and neurological diseases to encourage movement and expression using their body. “Most of the students in this class have a disease that is slowly taking away their ability to move, yet they are showing up and dancing. And let me tell you, there are some glorious dancers in the room.”
